Attempt to necro this... [25 Apr 2015|03:25pm]

__irrylath__
[ mood | pensive ]

Well, I had been neglecting my LJ for a while & barely ever posted anything in it. I've been trying to get back into the habit, just like I used to.

I noticed that it's been years since anyone posted in here, so I'm hoping that my post will bring back a few people... If anyone is left anyway.

I have no exciting college/university adventure to share. I did not "go on to succeed" like most others would say. I've just been working, & that's about all there is to say. I've had some major life changes, moved, & had some pretty traumatic things happen in my life since I graduated, but meh.

Now here it is, 2015. It'll be a full decade in just a little over a year's time. Am I the only one who's in disbelief that it's already getting that close?!

I hope everyone else has had a decent & safe near-decade since we graduated years & years ago.

be who you want to be. don't ask for permission to be yourself. be extraordinary. don't follow anyone's rules but your own. never ask what anyone thinks unless you value their opinion and are prepared for their response, even if its criticism. think constantly. adapt. learn. change everyday for the better, and when you make mistakes, which you absolutely will, learn from them. don't over value the perspective of others but always respect their opinions. think neither too much or too little of yourself. love deeply. get hurt. get stronger. love again. love with all you have until the day you die. make strong connections to other people. teach them and learn from them. share experiences. be vehement. believe what you feel in your heart is the truth. read books. read about, learn about and experience religion. make your own decision about what's real and what's fiction. believe in the impossible. take chances. fall flat on your face a time or two. never be embarrassed about it. without failure there could be no success. tell the truth, to everyone but especially to yourself. tell your mother you love her. tell anyone you love how you feel. voice your opinion even if you're wrong. debate with other intelligent people. listen to them when they talk. choose for yourself whether or not theyre full of crap. do memorable and heroic things whenever possible. write letters. write some to yourself. make yourself proud. exercise not just your body but also your mind. talk to people not just on the phone or by email. hang out with people and converse with them. travel where and when you can. embrace differences as much as you embrace similarities. live life everyday because as far as I know you only get just the one.

I haven't posted on LJ in about 9 months but I thought I'd post in here about my college 'life'. I'm sure folks don't post in here as much as a year or 2 ago...but I'll post anyway.

I've been at my current school since the fall of '06 and I like it better than high school. I've taken a lot of interesting classes and met a lot of interesting people over the past year or so. This past summer, I met 5 great guys, who are about my age, who go to a different school and I still miss 'em. I should graduate next spring. I've become interested in History since the spring of last year. My History teacher and I have become buddies since we both like History and college football. It makes me sad though, that this is the last class of hers that I'll take since I only need a few science classes to graduate. I've been keeping up with my former high school's football team this year and we're still undefeated! We have the 2nd round of playoffs Friday night.  Anyway, nothing too interesting has gone on since I last posted here, which was 2 years ago. A good many of my HS classmates are engaged/married/parents. Now that's some nutty stuff.

so i was just wondering.. is anyone studying abroad this year? most people who do study abroad in college do it their junior year of college, and that's what this year is for us.

i'm studying at the university of brighton in england. i'll be leaving in three weeks and i'll be there for five months- wish i could do longer, but it's all i could afford. at least i'm able to go at all though!

Today was the first day of the fall semester for me.

Everyone, please flush the toilets after you use them.

Guys, don't walk into the classroom and raise your hands up and loudly "shout out" at the people you recognize from last year/semester/high school.

Since no one has posted in a while... [15 Aug 2008|06:37pm]

Since no one has posted lately, I was wondering if anyone wanted to share any rumors/stories they heard about college life before going to college, and whether it turned out to be true or not (at least at your college).

One that I heard was the rumor that if the professor is a certain number of minutes late, the students are allowed to leave. That ended up not being true, at least at my college. Here is a Snopes.com article on that one: http://www.snopes.com/college/admin/wait.asp.

This might sound a little mean, but I thought other people my age might understand. I go to a community college, and it annoys me when older adult students (30+ years) are rude or act as though they know so much more than those of us who are 18-25 years old. Yes, they are older, but I don't like it when they patronize us or act as though our opinions aren't as educated and well-informed as theirs. I think we are all students and that we are all on the same level.

Homecoming, or lack thereof [28 Nov 2007|11:01pm]

ultravphunter
Hey fellow '06-ers.

I'm going to be spending my winter break away from family for the first time ever this year. I'm working, and break is a whole month long, so I can't really afford to go home. I'm happy that I'm getting more independent, but on the same note, it really bites that I can't really go home. Is anyone else in the same boat? Has anyone else already been in the same boat? I'm pretty sure there are going to be a few people to hang out with near my school, but I can foresee many hours alone in my apartment in the next month.

What do y'all suggest?
